History of the Rose Garden Dyna's Grandmother, was on the Jackson & Perkins (a famous rose grower) test panel for developing new roses. The rose garden today is made up of some of the original bushes that were planted many years ago. Today, there are 85 rose bushes and rose trees on the Rose Garden Estate.
The Rose Garden Estate began in 1956 on four acres of land. The house, completed in 1958, was designed by Dyna's mother (Lucile) who also served as general contractor.
Yorba Linda was always more of a country atmosphere. In the beginning there were animals (sheep, cattle, horses, pigs, rabbits and chickens) and gardens (fruit and vegetable) and an orange grove. The lath house was built around 1965. On a whim one Saturday, we took a stick and drew a shape in the dirt and that was the beginning of the fishpond. On Mothers Day that year, the pond was filled with goldfish. It sat empty for years and became overgrown. In 2005, the structure was torn down, rebuilt with a beautiful waterfall and the new koi pond was stocked. It is now a source of pleasant peace and serenity.
Today, John and Dyna Samz are the owners of the remaining 1/2 acre property.
